Bucharest, Romania 13-14 May 2021

LEAP Postgraduate Conference: Bucharest

The year 2020 should have been the milestone for a critical overview of the main achievements of the Europe 2020 Strategy. Unfortunately, this year coincided with the COVID pandemic, that reshaped all the dynamics in economic, social and political terms at the global level. In spite of the fight against the pandemic taking the front stage, looking back and reflecting at both the achievements and the pitfalls of the Europe 2020 Strategy, as well as charting the challenges ahead for 2030 remain crucial. Moreover, the preliminary impact of the pandemic on the 2030 Agenda is a subject that requires more food for thought.

Against this background, several questions spring to mind immediately: How did Romania tackle the Europe 2020 Agenda? What were the main priorities? What is Romania’s agenda for the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals? And, not least, what fields of action should be in focus in the years to come, in coordination with the current European Commission’s goals?

To explore this subject and critically examine what has been achieved so far and what should Europe strive for in the decade to come, the Bucharest Office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the Center for European Studies at the National University of Political Science and Public Administration (SNSPA) have the pleasure of inviting you to an online discussion on "What is left from the Europe 2020 Strategy? Challenges, lessons learnt and new ways forward for Europe 2030."
